Original language description
The first monograph on Czech glassmaker and sculptor Martin Janecký (1980) presents his work after 2010 and places it into the global context. The work introduces Janecký as an artist focused on the masterly theme of portraiture, both in the literal physiognomic and symbolic sense. In addition to a comprehensive catalogue of works, the book contains a collection of thematic essays by historians of art, glass Barbora Kundračíková and William Warmus. More than just the story of a single artist or subject in a limited time and space, the book reflects the very history of the medium and the concept of art as we know it.
