The article presents a complex view on the role of central banks as institutions and their policies in times of crisis, it looks at the available methods of prevention while it discusses the changing role of the central banks as a result of such times and implies possible future developments in their policies. The main sources of information are research results provided by either officials of central banks of research findidngs provided by other institutions or individuals as well as the atuhors own. The main research methods used are the methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison and deduction.
