Private Military and Security Companies and International Responsibility: Examining the Attributality of PMSC´s Conduct to State and International Organisations during United Nations Peacekeeping Operations
Original language description
Private military and security companies are largely contracted not only by states but also by the United Nations. Moreover, they are often involved in United Nations peacekeeping operations. As a matter of fact, their involvement is often associated with international humanitarian law violations and human rights abuses. Due to the fact that they are hired by states or by the UN itself, their conduct must be, according to the law of the international responsibility, attributed either to State or to International Organisation (the UN). Thus, the present article will try to analyze the legal conditions, according to which it is possible to attribute the conduct of PMSCs to State or to an International Organisation, namely the UN.
