The article then explores the concept of human rights as an ideology, reflecting on their politicisation, fetishisation, ideologisation, and even delegitimisation. However, these findings are not interpreted as a denial of the concept of human rights itself, but rather as a warning against the risks inherent in their development and their rapid adaptation to changing societies and technologies.This general framework is followed by a specific application—an analysis of the right to be forgotten (RTBF), which emerged as a response to the rapid evolution of modern technologies and the growing use of the internet and search engines. The article describes RTBF as an inalienable, non-expiring, and irrevocable right, and notes that the high number of data erasure requests (e.g., more than 1.5 million submitted by EU residents to Google alone) indicates that this is not merely an ideological construct, but a right with real and practical significance.While the article acknowledges the value of a critical perspective on human rights, including questioning their very existence, it concludes that the existence of human rights can be objectively demonstrated. The right to be forgotten, in this interpretation, withstands critical scrutiny and may therefore be characterised as a human right—more precisely, as a "modern human right." The term "modern" underscores its nature as a response to ongoing societal developments, particularly technological change.
