Journey of Soul to Perfection: Nicethas Stethatos

  • Original language description

The purpose of the paper is to present the notion of the human soul according to Nicetas Stethatos who was the disciple and biographer of St. Symeon the New Theologian. The attention is paid to Stethatos´ treatise On Soul which is an interesting testimony of the spiritual life in the 11th century in Byzantium. The paper concentrates on two issues: the philosophical and theological sources of Stethatos´ thinking and his concept of the soul.
