John Amos Comenius and his Laudation of Tolerance

  • Original language description

The article deals with philosophical, anthropological and theological foundations of Comenius' concept of tolerance. The author emphasizes importance of Comenius' ideas about mutual cooperation and peace among races, nations and religions at the turn ofRenaissance and modernity. For Comenius, true tolerance cannot exist without true friendship, love, honest cooperation and social solidarity. In the middle of all the conflicts in the 17th century, Comenius's laudation of tolerance heads towards the strenghtening of all positive values of humanity, individual as well as social, and towards the universal reformation of everything.
