Alumni from the Olomouc archdiocese in the 19th century went to study to Collegium Germanicum in Rome. Pope Benedikt XV. wanted to propose that alumni from Bohemia and Moravia should reside together in Rome. But this idea was not new. In 1871 archbishopsFriedrich Fürstenberg (Olomouc) and Friedrich Schwanzenberg (Prague) proposed this idea. . After 1918 was built in Rome the new common college - Nepomucenum, where lived students both from Bohemia and Moravia. Archbishopes of Olomouc were sended students to the college and financially supported this college.
