A spiritual pilgrimage through the Velehrad Martyrion
Original language description
The current design of the Velehrad basilica follows a single key idea: to connect its Romanesque origins and the heritage conservation work carried out in the 1930s and 1980s with the life and mission of the pilgrimage centre and the parish church. Velehrad is truly symbolic. It is a highly significant symbol, for Christians, of the unity of two worlds - the visible and the invisible. When we speak of the Velehrad of faith, we discover the connection between the faith of the people of the twenty-first century and the beginnings of Christianity in this country, as mediated by St. Cyril and St. Methodius.
