Interpreting Ambiguity. The Beginning of the "Song of the Suffering Servant" (Isa 52:13-15) and its Translations
Original language description
The chapter tries to explain why the meaning of the opening section of the "Song of the Suffering Servant of the Lord" differs in ancient versions (Hebrew, Greek, Latin, Syriac, Aramaic). Isa 52:13-15 serves as an example of an authoritative text that led to different interpretations. Although the general inclination of the transmission of authoritative texts was conservative, the texts were interpreted in resonance with a concrete faith or hope of different religious groups, hence the interpretative innovations.
