Scholia of Clement of Alexandria in the Coptic Catena on the Gospels
Original language description
The article examines scholia of Clement of Alexandria in the Coptic Catena on the Gospels, more precisely, six scholia attributed to «[Saint] Clement», with regard to two scholia of John Chrysostom. The scholia are presented in an English translation with a commentary. It is suggested that none of them is a fragment of Clement’s lost Hypotyposes but a paraphrase of a known work: five from Clement’s Stromateis and one (misattributed in the catena) from Cyril of Alexandria’s Commentary on John.
