Rebirth into a New Man: Deification in Jerome
Original language description
The chapter deals with motives of deification in Jerome. Conversant in Greek and Latin theology, Jerome discusses deification as participation in divine life, adoptive sonship, and grace and its special gifts, in particular the life of virginity which, when lived rightly, is a process of angelification. The chapter also treats Jerome’s adaptation of other important themes, such as the inequality of divine gifts and the interplay between divine grace and human agency.
