The book is a critical edition of so far unedited and unpublished material from Dietrich von Hildebrand Nachlass (bequest) deposited in Bavarian State Library in Munich, Germany. The material expands significantly current knowledge of von Hildebrand´s moral philosophy. It develops further the themes contained in Part IV of Hildebrand´s Ethics, his most important book in moral philosophy. It contains a detailed account of the two main sources of moral evil in man: pride and concupiscence and other related phenomena such as hatred, laziness, or immanent logic. The method of enquiry is phenomenological in the spirit of the early phenomenological tradition. The material used for the edition consists of almost four hundred pages of manuscripts and nearly two hundred pages of typescripts. The edition includes editor´s Introductury study and notes, Foreword by John F. Crosby, and Index.
