Original language description
Clement of Alexandria derives the “novelty” of the Christian concept of time from the event of the incarnation of the divine Logos, who entered time and became, as a playing child, the source of newness in it. Clement shows God as a timeless true being who, at the same time, includes “was, is, and will be”. This revelation articulates human history and opens a “new” age in it as a time to imitate the divine play of the revelatory Logos. From eternal cosmic repetition, time thus becomes a brief period, which must really be made use of.
