Children and adolescents spend a significant amount of time at school. However, this environment is not always friendly and supportive. Students often report a variety of school-related stressors, and these seem to harm their general well-being and mental health. A better understanding of school-related stressors can help plan prevention and intervention in schools. This study aims to examine the psychometric properties of the adapted 8-item School-related Stress Scale in the early adolescent population in Slovakia. Data from a representative sample of 7873 Slovak early adolescents (aged from 11 to 16) were obtained as a part of the Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children (HBSC) study in 2022. The factor analysis of the instrument confirmed a single-factor model, which explains 48.65% of the variance. Internal consistency was adequate with Cronbach's alpha = 0.842 for the whole scale. The hypothesised positive correlations with general stress, perceived school pressure, school dissatisfaction, and negative correlation with well-being confirmed the criterion validity of the scale. The findings suggest that the psychometric properties of the Adapted School-Related Stress Scale are sufficient.
