Mass spectrometry for analysis of purine and pyrimidine compounds
Original language description
Rapid and correct diagnosis of purine and pyrimidine metabolic diseases depends strongly on specific and precise screening methods for identifying and quantifying in body fluids. From the practical point of view, assays should be automated and inexpensive. Currently HPLC is a dominant tool in diagnostic practice, although two-dimensional thin layer chromatography has been also widely used. Recently, three novel technologies - HPLC - Electrospray Tandem Mass Spectrometry (MS), H-NMR and Capillary Electrophoresis have been successfully utilized for diagnostic purposes.
