The Eucarpia Meeting featured reports on all Cucurbitaceae (cucumbers, squash, pumpkin, muskmelon, watermelon, wild and exotic cucurbits). The primary emphasis was on genetic resources and diversity, genetics, breeding, plant pathology and resistance breeding, biotechnology and cultivation.The scientific programme included oral (Keynote and short) and poster presentations. All presented papers were reviewed by a scientific committee and fully published in a meeting´s Proceedings (Lebeda, A., Paris, H.S.(Eds.): Progress in Cucurbit Genetics and Breeding Research. Proceedings of Cucurbitaceae 2004, the 8th EUCARPIA Meeting on Cucurbit Genetics and Breeding. Palacký University in Olomouc, Olomouc (Czech Republic), 12.-17.7.2004, 566p. ). The official language was English. Eucarpia Meeting included three days of scientific presentation and discussion and one day for technical excursion.
