Response of wild Lactuca spp. and their hybrids with L. sativa to Bremia lactucae: histological study

  • Original language description

Responses of lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and wild relatives L. serriola, L. saligna, L. virosa as well as breeding lines derived from L. sativa x L. serriola crosses to two isolates of Bremia lactucae (CS2, CS9) were studied. Phenotypic expression of compatibility/incompatibility was characterized up to 14 days after inoculation at seedling and adult plant stage, resp. Except L. sativa genotypes, all examined accessions and hybrids expressed partial or complete resistance to both pathogen races with limited differences. These preliminary data on intensity of asexual reproduction were followed by detailed study focused on germination, development of pathogen primary infection structures and host defence responses to following infection (e.g. hypersensitivereaction). Histological features of the interactions were studied by leaf disc method 48 h after inoculation (hai).

Histologicke studium odpovědí planých zástupců r. Lactuca a jejich hybridů s L. sativa na infekci Bremia lactucae

  • Czech description

Odpovědi salátu (Lactuca sativa) a planých příbuzných L. serriola, L. saligna, L. virosa a šlechtitelských linií pocházejících z křížení L. sativa x L. serriola byly studovány v interakcích se dvěma izoláty Bremia lactucae (CS2, CS9). Fenotypová expresekompatibility/inkompatibility byla charakterizována během 14 dní po inokulaci na semenáčcích a dospělých rostlinách. Kromě genotypů L. sativa, všechny studované genotypy a hybridy vykazovaly částečnou nebo kompletní rezistenci k oběma rasám patogenu s malými rozdíly. Detailně byly studovány klíčení, vývoj primárních infekčních struktur a hypersensitivní odpověď během 48h po inokulaci.
