    The cytology and life cycle of Pinnularia cf. Gibba was examined in nine clones from three Scottish localities. Auxosporulation is accompanied by formation of a complete covering of thin, siliceous, oxidation-resistant strips (incunabula).

    Cytologie a životní cyklus Pinnularia cf. Gibba byl studován u klonů ze tří jezer ve Skotsku. Vývoj auxospor je doprovázen tvorbou tenké, křemité obalné struktury, kterou jsme nazvali incunabula (povian).
