Relief for Models of Natural Phenomena
Original language description
Digital modelling of terrain presents a significant contribution to geomorphology, hydrology, ecology and other geosciences. Most of physical geographic phenomena are directly or indirectly related to the earth surface. However, when simulated in computer models of different abstraction and detail the modelled results are influenced by a number of aspects and properties of relief expression. The quality of digital models of terrain generated using interpolation methods is one of the properties that influence the arising deviations of the results. By testing them (and by analyses of their parameters) we can assess their suitability for modelling individual types of terrains and choose a method for creating a digital model of the highest quality. The article offers a conceptual view of the process of assessing the steps in the creation of a digital model of relief to express the earth surface in physical geographic applications, especially when modelling and simulating physical geographi
