Distribution, host range and disease severity of Pseudoperonospora cubensis on cucurbits in the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

Disease prevalence, host range and disease severity of cucurbit downy mildew, caused by Pseudoperonospora cubensis were evaluated on ca 80-100 locations per year in two main regions of the Czech Republic from 2001 to 2009. Infection by P. cubensis was observed primarily on Cucumis sativus, very rarely on Cucumis melo and Cucurbita moschata. During the study, disease prevalence ranged from 66 to 100%. Generally, P. cubensis was present at high or very high disease severity. Of other pathogens, 5% of screened locations with C. sativus plants were also infected by the cucurbit powdery mildew (Golovinomyces cichoracearum, Podosphaera xanthii).
