On GC/MS in phospholipid research II: Investigation of liposome formation and liposome-water partitioning
Original language description
Headspace solid phase microextraction gas chromatography / mass spectrometry was used for determination of critical liposome concentration of soybean phospholipid (asolectin) and liposome water partition coefficient of eugenol. Constant amount of eugenolwas incubated with constant volume of asolectin solutions for 12 hours. Peak area corresponding to the eugenol concentration in the headspace and thus to the fraction of free eugenol was recorded in dependence on asolectin concentration. The initial andterminal parts of the experimental dependence were extrapolated with two straight lines whose intersection corresponds to the concentration value (1.097 g/l) remarkably conformable to the value of critical liposome concentration obtained from cyclic voltammetry (1.126 g/l). Liposom water partition coefficient was determined from the measured concentration of free eugenol and known volume of the liposomal phase. Partition coefficient values 300, 297 and 305 were obtained in solutions wit
