The importance of development of individual regions has been growing and that is why the relevance of urban planning related with this development has been increasing. There is suitable to use geographic information systems (GIS) for precise and informedplanning in municipalities and regions but it is necessary to apply high-quality data and digital planning documentation in these systems. To safe the landscape portrait in today's shape is necessary to use it as optimal as possible. It should be style,which can compare physical-geographic conditions of landscape and social needs. Important condition is to keep sustainable environment. Sometimes the social aspects are more important for urban planners than geographical preconditions but these one should be the most important in process of urban planning. The paper deals with the possibilities of GIS in the planning process and shows a new approach to the identification of environmental conflicts within the area during the creation of
