Understanding opinions and preferences of visitors to protected areas is one of the fundamental sources for setting up an appropriate tourism management in a number of protected areas. Communication with the visitors gives an important feedback for decision-making of the protected areas' administration. This kind of data can be used successfully e.g. when modifying public relations, controlling the numbers of visitors, including possible determination of limits for bearable load of the protected areas.That is why an extensive questionnaire survey was carried out in model mountain protected areas within the whole of the Czech Republic to find out the visitors' opinions about issues related to recreational use of protected areas and to nature conservancy. It was found out that the visitors' answers do not differ significantly among the single protected areas.
