Fractionation of heavy metals and assessment of contamination of the sediments of Lake Titicaca
Original language description
Contents and distribution of heavy metals in Lake Titicac sediments have been studied. Increased contents of Co, Ni, and Cd were attributed to geological sources, but Pb and Zn were linked to mining activities and Fe, Mn, and Cu were linked to industrialeffluents. Maximum enrichment of sediments indicated by the Geoaccumulation Index and the Enrichment Factor was found for Zn, Pb, and Cd.
