The article summarises the main knowledge on tomato powdery mildew (Oidium neolycopersici). There are mentioned information about morphological features of the pathogen, symptoms, taxonomic possition, the survey of countries with confirmed occurrence ofthe pathogen and history of its spread, host range, sources of resistance within genus Solanum and mechanisms of resistance including their biochemical and biophysical aspects. Crucial points of further research are discussed.
