GC/MS Analysis of the Essential Oil of Thymus Tosevii Vel. from Kosovo
Original language description
Chemical profile of the essential oil of Thymus tosevii Vel. from Kosovo was analysed. Seven populations were collected from their natural habitats in different parts of Kosovo. Essential oils were extracted by hydro distillation using Clevenger apparatus, and their chemical composition was analysed by GC/MS. Essential oils resulted with yield from 0.74% to 1.49%, with high content of monoterpens (up to 50.26%) and oxygenated monoterpens (up to 55.3%) as main compound classes. The major constituents ofthe analysed essential oil samples in total were p-cymene, beta-caryophyllene, thymol, gama-terpinene and camphene. Statistical Cluster analysis resulted with three different clusters of essential oil samples. The results confirm the influence of environmental conditions on the chemical composition.
