DETECTABILITY AS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR INFLUENCING KNOWLEDGE OF BIRD DIVERSITY IN FLOODPLAIN FOREST ECOSYSTEM

  • Original language description

Knowledge of structure and diversity of bird communities in forest ecosystems are important for conservation of forest biodiversity. Results of bird studies from forest ecosystems are influenced by detectability of birds. Despite of this, detectability of birds in different forest habitats is given little attention. The aim of this presented study is assessment of some factors, which are important for detectability of birds in floodplain forest ecosystems. The paper analyse detectability of bird speciesin floodplain forests (Litovelské Pomoraví, Czech Republic) in the long time period 1998-2012. Authors analysed data with relation to the date of census, climate factors (cloud amount, wind, air temperature, precipitation) and main two habitat type (closed mature forest and ecotone). Results of the study show that the values in dominant bird species change significantly among the particular census dates within one season, mainly with respect to the bird detectability.
