First Report of Buckwheat Downy Mildew Caused by Peronospora cf. ducometi in the Czech Republic
Original language description
In June 2014, symptoms of downy mildew were recorded on leaves of several buckwheat accessions grown in experimental fields at the Crop Research Institute in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Morphological characteristics of the pathogen were described. A BLAST search of the NCBI database revealed 99% identity to the deposited ITS rDNA sequence of Peronospora polygoni. Two conspecific species (P. ducometi and P. fagopyri) are known to cause downy mildew of buckwheat but no comparable molecular data for these pathogens are avaliable at the moment.
