The impact of phosphate rocks and their mining in Eastern Desert, Egypt, has been investigated. The groundwater quality is not suitable for consumption in most wells. It seems that the presence of phosphate rocks has a stronger impact on groundwater than their mining. It is recommended to avoid any groundwater exploration from the phosphate-bearing formation.
