Occurrence of antimony and arsenic at mining sites in Slovakia: Implications for their mobility
Original language description
Antimony and arsenic in mine discharges in Slovakia has been studied. The highest concentrations of antimony (9.3 mg/L) and arsenic (2.4 mg/L) were in outflow for mine adits at Dúbrava and Poproč, respectively. Principal attenuation process for both contaminants is adsorption on hydrous ferric oxide. Based on mass flux calculations, remediation of mining sites should be focused on capture and treatment of water for mine adits.
