Difference in attenuation among Mn, As, and Fe in riverbed sediments

  • Original language description

Detailed study of sediments and pore water in three rivers at the Chianan Plain, SW Taiwan, is reported. Concentrations of As in river sediments correspond to average crustal abundances and As is mostly bound to FeOOH. Sediments are enriched in Mn. Dissolved As concentrations are much lower compared to groundwater hotspots. No As attenuation has been detected in hyporheic zone and As together with Fe is attenuated deeper than Mn.
