Original language description
This article focuses on factors affecting regular school attendance in the Buikwe district in Uganda. The research was based on a questionnaire survey in three primary schools in the district of Buikwe. After the regression model was constructed, factors affecting the number of absences were examined using the Poisson regression of panel data. There was a positive and statistically significant relationship between the explanatory variable and the variables: gender, distance of residence from school, number of younger siblings, whether the child has biological parents, and whether the child does any paid work. The variables age, number of household members, mother's education, hunger, whether the head of the household where the child lives is female, and whether the child is involved in assistance programs have a negative effect on regular school attendance.
