Sustainable development goals in sport for development and peace agenda in Colombia: Analysis of online documents

  • Original language description

The study is based on the data gathered in a complex qualitative research project carried out in 2020 and 2021, “South American Sport for Development Voices and the Sustainable Development Goals”, funded by the Advanced Olympic Research Grant Programme. The goal of this chapter is to elaborate on the presence of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda in Sport for Development and Peace (SFD) Colombian documents accessible online. Thus, reviewed documents are part of the Colombian SFD publicly presented discourse. The study answers the question of how the reviewed documents reflect the SDGs linked to the SFD topics in Colombia. The variety of occurrences and appearance of the SDG agenda in national, regional and local documents written in Spanish and English and coverage of the SFD issues are depicted. The analysis detected topics subsumable under SDGs number 3, 4, 5, 8, 11 and 16. Even though the SDG agenda is not openly articulated in the reviewed documents, the study further highlights its relevance and topicality.
