Diffusion-treatment of 3D printed steel surfaces
Original language description
The aim of steel surface treatment technology using heat treatment accompanied by diffusion of alloying elements into the surface layers is to improve surface properties in terms of surface wettability and corrosion and cavitation resistance. Heat treatment may be preceded by other surface treatments such as grinding, polishing, LSP or other treatments. The treatment of surfaces of parts manufactured by 3D printing from metal powders is particularly important, as the surfaces of such parts are characterized by relatively high roughness and porosity. These surfaces are more susceptible to corrosion and cavitation wear.
