Pseudoperonospora cubensis on Cucumis spp. and Cucurbita spp. - resistance breeding aspects.
Original language description
More than 50 cucurbitaceous species are known as hosts of the cucumber downy mildew. Within Cucumis sativus cvs. and wild Cucumis species, there is no effective source of resistance. Only Cucumis melo line MR-1 possesses genes for a stable resistance. Cucurbita spp. are highly resistant both under field conditions and after artificial inoculation in laboratory. The resistance of C. pepo accessions is closely linked with their fruit shape.
