Original language description
The paper presents the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results of a test given to future teachers of English at the English Department, Faculty of Education, Palacký University Olomouc. The test concentrated on the knowledge of the English word order in comparison to Czech word order, with special emphasis on the metalanguage and translation. Particular attention was paid to the passive and highlighting structures in English. Based on the outcomes, modifications of the teacher-training course syllabus are suggested.
