The interest in studying the natural sciences is decreasing in both Europe and the Czech Republic. The STM Morava project is focused on the popularity of natural sciences (mainly physics, chemistry and mathematics) in primary and secondary school pupils.The contribution introduces the findings related to the evaluation of the subjects, primarily the natural sciences, the reasons of their popularity, the participation in natural sciences competitions and motivation of participation in these competitions, evaluation of job prestige, orientation towards the characteristics of desired future jobs. The influences on the choice of university or college are not forgotten in the secondary school pupils. According to researches in France, Germany and the Netherlands the reason of a weak interest in university study of natural sciences is an overmuch academic orientation of these study majors.

Zájem žáků o studium přírodních věd

Czech description

Zájem o studium přírodních věd v Evropě i České republice klesá. V rámci projektu STM Morava se zaměřujeme na oblíbenost přírodních věd (především fyziky, chemie a matematiky) u žáků základních a středních škol. Příspěvek seznamujeme se zjištěními týkajícími se hodnocení vyučovacích předmětů, zejména přírodovědných, důvodů jejich oblíbenosti, účasti v přírodovědných soutěžích a motivů pro soutěžení, s četbou přírodovědných časopisů, hodnocením prestiže povolání, orientací na charakter práce, kterou by chtěli v budoucnu vykonávat. U středoškoláků opomenuty nezůstávají ani důvody rozhodující o volbě vysoké školy. Podle výzkumů z Francie, Německa Nizozemí, je důvodem malého zájmu o vysokoškolské studium přírodních věd příliš akademická orientace studijních oborů.
