The Perception and Cognition of Harmonic Patterns in Music
Original language description
The book deals with perception and cognition of harmonic patterns in music. The first chapter outlines the most relevant topics with regard to issues relating to the general perception and the perception of auditory information. It also deals with relevant topics related memory, attention, and mental representation so that elaborating them in the context of perception of intervals, chords, harmonic musical structures, and the harmony within the components of the musical language. The second chapter focuses on the musical abilities as a potentials to recognise, analyse, and assess chords and harmony. In the third chapter author focuses on the system of musical abilities with an ontogenetic dimension. The subparts of the third chapter subsequently followthe more specific theoretical and empirical reflections of the development of the individual components of the set of harmonic abilities.
