Restoration of the River System in the Floodplain Forests: Case Study from the Czech Republic
Original language description
The biodiversity of floodplain forest ecosystems in temperate zone of Europe is significantly influenced by the hierarchical level of beta-diversity, i.e. by the changes in biodiversity depending on the changes in environmental gradients (in this case, these are changes in micro-relief and meso-relief of the floodplain in dependence on the distance from the water flow, changes in the range of floods etc.). If the floodplain landscape is strongly influenced by the system of water-management alterations,a solution within the management activities are then the water regime restorations. This study of complex restoration of the floodplain forest water regime along the Morava River by Chomoutov in the Olomouc region (Czech Republic) demonstrates an exampleof an ecosystem approach to practical solving of this kind of landscape ecological issues.
