Original language description
The study is conceived as a short overview of concepts of the meaning of life and human meaningfulness. The paper presents the results of an analysis of the meaningfulness of life as perceived by college students in the first and fifth years of their studies. It focuses primarily on the competence to deal with oneself and the outside world in relation to the meaningfulness of existence as perceived by adolescents and young adults divided by sex, year of studies and year of data collection. The sample consists of 289 students of the humanities. The results suggest a very optimistic tone of the data obtained in terms of the level of meaningfulness experienced. The effect of the grade appeared highly significant in most of the areas that were studied, while the influence of sex was significantly less detectable.
