Reading Literacy from Primary School Teachers' Viewpoint
Original language description
The article provides information on the results of the research focused on the chosen topical issues of the reading literacy and their impact upon the educational process from the primary school teachers' viewpoint. We are also interested in pupils' skills and activities contributing to the development of their reading literacy. From the pedagogical point of view we pay attention to pupils' attitudes towards reading and the influence of classroom/school environment upon the reading literacy development. We also focus on the reading genre preferences in the lessons. One of the objectives will be to confront the teachers' attitudes with those of pupils and with the possibilities of school literature education to motivate pupils to read for a lifetime. Our aim has been to find out what strategies the teachers apply, and how often they use them, in order to develop the reading literacy.
