L. Marinescu based his speech not only on his own teaching experience but also on the knowledge of the American educational system. He explained the American education system, the differences between public and private universities and between universities of different types (Liberal Art Colleges, Colleges Church, Art Institutes etc.). He stressed the positive and negative aspects of music education in the United States. He outlined the new educational trends, which are currently beginning to be implemented ( Mass Open Online Courses). The audience composed of students and academic staff had a unique opportunity to compare their own experience with the educational reality in another country.
