The study is aimed at the contextual characterization of education in general educational programmes of universities of the third age. The aim of the paper is to find out whether Czech U3A reach the concept of lifelong learning through their programmes. The introduction contains an existing overview of this issue. Partial results of selected parts of the research in the context of contents of the study will be presented in the text. The further part of the work will deal with analysis of present education offer of universities of the third age. The conclusion of the work includes the evaluation of reaching the concept of lifelong learning through educational programmes provided in universities of the third age.
