Research of Possibilities of Use of Social Networks in Education from the Point of Relation of the Extent of Intertionality to rhe Learning Skills of Various Age Groups
Original language description
Concept of connectivism and possibilities of its usage in education is very actual topic but up until now it did not get enough attention. Connectivism as a theory of education for a digital age is connected with usage of social networks. This paper is focused on the connection between social networks, homework and learning. Paper presents some of the partial results of use of social networks in education from the point of relation of the extent of intentionality to the learning skills of various age groups. Main goal of presented research work was research of influence of social networks on the homework of various age groups of students (8th grade = 14 years - lower secondary school, 3rd grade = 18 years – grammar school, 3rd year university students of study programme Basics of Technical Sciences and Information Technology for Education = 22 years). Homework as a part of institucionalized education is integral part of students’ skills to self-regulate their learning. Skill of self-regulation changes with increasing age. Question arises if social networks can contribute to increase of quality of homework but also how much is their usage influenced by growing age of students. We realised research that focussed attention on the basis of facts referred to above. We researched connection between learning with tools that students use to study (social networks like Facebook and open information sources) and evaluation of positives and negatives of using such tools in education. We used quantitative methods of data collection and evaluation. Data were collected through a questionnaire and obtained data evaluated through statistical methods (t-test, cluster analysis and other).
