The Incidence of Burnout Syndrome Related to Job Satisfaction among Kindergarten Teachers in the Czech Republic
Original language description
Burnout syndrome is a phenomenon that occurs in some occupational groups as a result of a combination of several factors, especially chronic stress and a significant decrease in motivation and job satisfaction. This is a serious problem that significantly affects the quality of life and overall life satisfaction of the individual and is reflected negatively in teachers' job satisfaction. The aim of the paper was to map how kindergarten teachers evaluate their job satisfaction and to investigate the incidence of burnout, the relationship between these phenomena, and the factors that are most affected by these areas. The research was carried out among 485 kindergarten teachers in the Czech Republic (age range 25–65 years), specifically in the South Moravian Region. Data collection took place through a questionnaire survey - the level of burnout was measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Educators Survey (MBI-ES) while job satisfaction was measured through the Teacher Satisfaction Inventory (HSU). The results show that the incidence of burnout syndrome among Czech kindergarten teachers is relatively low, only about half of teachers show a minimal risk of burnout syndrome, while job satisfaction is high.
