Original language description

Health and safety education and training is an important societal issue that concerns many disciplines and activities. One of the most important areas is education, no matter whether this involves the preparatory education of children, pupils and students or the post-gradual, life-long education of workers in various professions. This article deals with health and safety issues in the context of education as a prerequisite for the development of students&apos; competences in this field for their future measurement at universities and also as a prerequisite for their perspectives in their future professional life. The article presents the results of a survey con-ducted among school teachers in the Olomouc region, which is characterized as a primarily agricultural region with predominantly light industry. Based on a com-parison with the situation in education in Slovakia and the conclusions of the research, the authors propose measures aimed at improving the level and quality of health and safety education.
