Original language description

The relationship among physical activity, health and lifestyle is a long-term focus of scientific research and also a serious problem in present day society. The state of health and lifestyle of the current generation has been the subject of a number ofanalyses and critiques in the Czech republic as well as abroad. The attempt to describe the present state, express the changes and suggest the trends in the realisation of physical activity and inactivity in relation to the fitness, health, interests andattitudes of youth leads us to start a longitudinal four-year monitoring of physical activity and inactivity. Physical activity means: "# a complex behavior which generally accounts for 15 to 40% of a person's total energy expenditure". We characterize inactivity as human behavior excluding sleeping, which doesn't extensively increase total energy expenditure above the rest level of metabolism (max. 2 METs - sitting in front of the TV or PC, sitting in school, lying while studying, in a
