The purpose of this cross-sectional study was point up some trends in physical activity (PA) preferences, which could lead to improving the quality of the physical education curriculum and the quality of lifestyle description of current children from Moravia region. A total of 7078 girls (4354 from K-5 to K-8 and 2724 from K-9 to K-12) correctly completed the standardized questionnaire of interests in an area of PA in the period 1994-2000. The interest of girls increased in fitness (K-5 to K-12) and recreational-oriented PA (K-9 to K-12) and decreased with regard to their preferences for health and aesthetically oriented PA (K-9 to K-12). Swimming, as a PA preferred by girls is long-lasting during the above-mentioned period. Girls' (K-5 to K-8) interest increased in skiing (including cross-country), volleyball, table tennis, soccer, ice hockey (including floorball) and decreased in their preferences for dancing and gymnastics.
