The influence of reflex massage on heart rate variability
Original language description
The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of the segmental technique of the reflex massage on the neck and head regions on the activity of the autonomic nervous system with the use of the spectral analysis of heart rate variability (SAHRV). Fifty healthy volunteers participated in this study: 30 young subjects (15 male, 15 female - mean age of 17.5 0.5 years) and 20 adult volunteers (10 male, 10 female - mean age of 34.8 2.6 years). The influence of the segmental technique on the neck and head regions of the reflex massage on the autonomic nervous system has been evaluated by means of the "short-term" SAHRV. The examinations, in which the microcomputer telemetric system VariaCardio TF 4 was used, were executed before, during and after the reflex massage session. This whole process was performed between 8.00 and 11.00 A.M. Additionally, questionnaires about subjective feelings, autonomic nervous system function and, furthermore, anamnestic data and registration of pain zo
