The assessment of stereotype of hip extension using palpation and surface elektromyography methods
Original language description
Examination of the stereotype of hip extension is a commonly used test for finding outabout the functional relationship of muscles in the lumbopelvic area. The study was focusedon the registration of hip extension movements through palpation and surfaceelectromyographic (EMG) methods. Focus was similarly placed on appraising and comparingthe order of activation (timing) registered by both methods of assessment. The orderof activation of muscles during a leg extension in the prone position simulates themusclerecruitment pattern of hip extension during gait. The study was conducted on ten randomly chosen young males (around the age of 22.5,+/-2.5). The experiment was focused upon the hip joint area on the dominant lower limbthrough palpation and surfaceelectromyography. All patients examined were right handed.Palpation and surface EMG findings were analyzed and compared in the cases of 4 chosenmuscles: m. gluteus maximus dx (GM dx), m. biceps femoris dx (BF dx) and mm. erectoresspinae o
